Professionalism and Architectural Education

Problems in construction could be as abstract as problems in design; solutions for design could be as practical as solutions for construction. Nevertheless, dichotomy is often used in our thinking, academic and practical, design and construction, digital and analogy, for its convenience. Attitude requires to solve problems of all kinds is no different, but today addressing fake issues has become the common phenomenon in architectural eduction.

建築的問題如何發生?答案是:問題是找到的。無論是設計問題,或是營建問題,問題有形形色色,端看你找到的問題值得一問嗎?解決營建問題可以和解決設計問題同樣抽像,用設計解決問題可以和解決營建問題同樣務實,我們常用二分法來問問題,或是回答問題,譬如:學術與實務,設計與營建,數位與類比。原因很簡單:貪圖方便。其實問題就是問題,解決各種問題的思考與態度應是一樣的,否則未必能找到真正的答案。然而,胡亂回答不是問題的問題已經成了今日台灣建築教育的常態。

「文化」創意產業的攪局
癱瘓對現實的理解─近年來風行的「文化」創意產業,癱瘓了設計教育的思考。介於社會與學校之間的文藝青年,匯流校園裡的樂活幼齒與社團寶寶,既借用政令宣導之名,也假手政治倡議之財,不斷的「事件」與「展覽」,不斷的「聯盟」與「行動」,這便是所謂的參與式設計,或學用接軌的教學模式。
