隨著VR/AR設備與技術的成熟，在各產業間的應用方式也越來越多元，但由於產業特性的不同，需要的功能會隨著應用情境有差異，因此將其他產業的應用方式照搬至AEC建築產業（Architecture, Engineering & Construction Industry），並不能充分的展現這項技術的價值，以下將詳細介紹導入VR/AR技術於AEC產業之優勢。 VR/AR技術及設備種類繁多，並不限較廣為熟知的HTC VIVE等具有頭戴式顯示裝置（Head-mounted Display，以下簡稱HMD）的應用方式，包括環景、行動VR、MR、AR、互動式3D等，廣義上都屬於VR/AR的領域且各有特點。
