Traditionally, the Serpentine pavilion is designed by an architect who has yet to build, or complete, a building in Britain.
The idea is to introduce architectural innovation, experiment, revolution and new challenges which in turns motivate public examination and participation.

蛇型藝廊一路走來的理念乃提供未在英國/英格蘭完成過作品的建築師一個平台，給倫敦建築界帶來創新的思考、實驗、改革與挑戰，並且讓大眾來驗收，接觸和參與。

記得小時候勞作課用的那些繽紛的玻璃紙嗎？記得把玻璃紙貼在眼前看世界變化成藍色、綠色、黃色的瞬間嗎？位於倫敦肯辛頓花園裡的蛇型藝廊(Serpentine Gallery)今年的夏季展館呈現的就是從紅色玻璃紙後看到的奇幻世界。到今年為止，蛇型藝廊的營運團隊已經完成了11位國際建築師及其合作團隊的夏季展館，每年吸引25萬人次的遊客量。今年蛇型藝廊邁入第40個年頭，請來曾在13個國家完成超過40件作品，同時也是2008年普利茲克獎得主努維爾(Jean Nouvel)建造夏季展館。7月10日已正式揭幕，將於10月17日閉館。
