The Adoption and Benefit of Mass Timber Construction 

Structural wood is an organic material. Its strength depends upon the place of origin and grading method. What’s more critical is that the structural analysis/design method adopted by each country or region is closely related to the strength of wood produced and graded in that place.

建築師、營造商和永續發展倡導者都在熱議一種「新的建築材料」，他們認為這種材料可以大幅減少建築領域的溫室氣體(GHG-Greenhouse Gases)排放，減少與建築相關的浪費、污染和成本，並創造一個更美觀、更適合身心健康的建築環境。 這種材料被稱為⋯呃⋯木材。 巨木建築的興起：自古以來，木材就被用於營建業，但是在1871年芝加哥大火後，相對於後來成為全球建築業最主要的兩種材料：混凝土和鋼材，木材被普遍視為比較不安全不穩定的建材。 然而，一種使用木材的新方法使木材重新成為人們關注的焦點，而聚光燈主要集中在一種工程結構木材，或者更普遍的說法是「巨木」(Mass Timber)。是的，本世紀建築業最熱門的話題就是「巨木，如同樂高積木(Legos)。」
